About the Hotel San Remo Casino and Resort:
This off-strip property located at 115 East Tropicana Avenue in Las Vegas, Nevada has gone through numerous changes throughout the years.  It was originally built as a Howard Johnson's Motor Lodge opening in 1973.  The owners received their gaming license later that year, however in 1974 they were unable to pay their debts and declared bankruptcy.  From 1975-1976 it was called the Paradise Hotel - with associations to the Philadelphia crime family and a credit scam. Ownership and name changes occurred for several years: 20th Century (1977-1978), Treasury (1978-1985), Pacifica 1985, Poynesian (1985-1989).  In 1989, the property was purchased by a Japanese businessman Sukeaki Izumi who renovated and renamed the Property to Hotel San Remo.  In 2005, Hooters of America acquired two-thirds interest in the property and the property went through another remodel and renaming to Hooters Casino Hotel (2006-2019).  The property changed hands again in 2019 and is now called Oyo Hotel and Casino.
